It’s been a hectic time onboard the Continuum as crewmembers have been extremely busy over the summer months. I, for one, am very much looking forward for things to start getting back to normal.
Back on August 17 and 18, our group was at Pensacola Paracon for our second year in a row. There’s was a HUGE turn out by the public, and we just want to say “thank you” to everyone who came by our recruiting table and got the first sight of our UPDATED Captain’s Chair. We had noticed at the Star Trek Into Darkness premiere, the Chair needed to be repainted as well as have a few trouble spots fixed. I am happy to say that all of that part was finished on schedule. Mark Wright, however, has a job that’s a little bit more complex, but we saw the first parts of his labor at Paracon: he’s adding a electronics to the control panels so when people hit the buttons, lights and sounds will play. Maybe at the next event, we’ll be able to have them LOUDER or be not so close to the stage’s speakers so people can actually hear them. It’s a work-in-progress, and I’m thankful for the time and effort Mark has been able to put into this project. The Chair will make another appearance at FANdom Con before being at Pensacon. We hope to every problem worked out by then. And we hope to be back at next year’s Paracon on August 9 and 10, 2014.
Our next major project is our Costumed Bowling Fundraiser scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Cordova Lanes. In the next few months, we hope to land several sponsors for the event, where 30% of our proceeds will go to help the Pensacola MESS Hall. More information coming soon.
In the next two months, the Continuum will be focused our bi-annual elections at our ship meetings. Luci Smith has agreed to be our Election Supervisor and will be oversee nominations, speeches, and the actual voting. On October 4, we’ll have the nominations and speeches for Commanding Officer, but it won’t be until November 1 that we have the actual election, followed by the elections for Executive Officer, Second Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Counselor. You must be a paid member of the USS Continuum and STARFLEET to vote. For more information on nominee qualifications, see the “USS Continuum Constitution (2012)” found in our Documents section.
And don’t forgot about our upcoming 20th Anniversary Dinner in December, celebrating our commissioning in 1993, where we hope to have a memorable time filled with promotions and our annual awards. Location, date, and time to be determined.
