April is the month of changes. Almost every one of our regularly scheduled events has altered in some ways at some new ones have been added. Here’s a list of everything you need to know:

Ahead Warp Factor One!

Typically held on the first Wednesday of the month, we’re swapping it with our “Dinner at Ten Forward” for April.

For the past few years, we’ve made it a tradition to celebrate “Star Trek Day” (aka “First Contact Day”) on or around April 5. But we don’t like to have too many events too close to each other if we can help it. And so, our “Star Trek Day Celebration” will start at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 5 at the Cactus Flower Cafe, 3425 N 12th Ave.

Our meeting this month this month has been moved to 6 p.m., Monday, April 15 at our typical location — PoFolks, located on 6895 N 9th Ave. We’ll resume our typical schedule for meetings on Wednesday, May 1.

Although it’s not on the calendar just yet (because we haven’t confirmed the time and location), but the Continuum will partner with the USS Harry Mudd of Milton for “Flea Across Florida” on Saturday, April 13. Proceeds from this sale will help us handle our day-to-day expenses, including the upkeep and creation of new Star Trek-themed displays.

One of the new regularly-scheduled events we’ve added in 2019 is “Trekkin’ at the Library,” a social meeting held at the West Florida Genealogy Branch Library at 5740 N 9th Ave. This Continuum event, not associated with the library or the county, is a chance for us to talk about the various Star Trek episodes and happenings in the franchise and is typically held on the second Saturday of the month.

Because the second Saturday in April is the date for “Flea Across Florida” and because there’s already a lot of other events happening in this month, the event intended for April 13 has been cancelled. “Trekkin’ at the Library” will resume on Saturday, May 11.

Finishing out the month, starting at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 28, at Cordova Lanes Bowling Center is the Costume Bowl! We’re excited to once again partner with the Parjai Squad in this annual charity fundraiser to support Manna Food Pantries and Gulf Coast Kid’s House. In the last five years, we’ve raised over $5,000.

Further information, as well as your chance to pre-register, can be found at costumebowl.org. Also, check us out on Facebook.
