If you haven’t already guessed it: we here at the USS Continuum love Star Trek! I mean, really love Star Trek! It’s not just because of the great stories and great characters. It’s because of the optimistic vision of the future Gene Roddenberry created over fifty years ago where all types of people can come together and respect their differences, where each person has value and a purpose.
It’s one of the reasons the USS Continuum exists. We’re “Star Trek Enthusiasts” – people who are not just dreaming about that optimistic future, but people who are looking for ways to make it a reality.
In 2015, our group began teaming up with the 501st Legion’s Parjai Squad. They were Star Wars. We were Star Trek. But we both had a vision about community service – that we could do a good thing and have a fun time doing it. And so, we created the “Costume Bowl” – an annual fundraiser to support two very important charities in our community – Manna Food Pantries and the Gulf Coast Kid’s House. In the last two years – through businesses and people like you – we’ve been able to raise over $2,400 in proceeds to help these two great organizations!
We’re inviting you to this year’s Costume Bowl to be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 7 at Cordova Lanes Bowling Center (2111 Airport Blvd, Pensacola). You can be the Star Trek fan that helps make a positive difference in the lives of so many people in the Pensacola, Florida area! Assemble your team of up to six bowlers, go to The Costume Bowl registration page
, and reserve your lane for only $75. Every bit of the proceeds we raise will go to support the above-mentioned charities – neither the USS Continuum nor the Parjai Squad will be making a cent off of this charity fundraiser!
And it doesn’t matter if you’re a good bowler or not. To add to the fun of this tournament and to further raise money to support our charities, we’re selling “Mulligans.” You can pay $5 to change your not-so-great bowl to a Strike! Or pay $2.50 and surprise your opponent with a Gutter Ball! You can even get the bumpers raised for a game for only $10!
Furthermore, thanks to the generous support of various local businesses, we’ll be having several items, including gift cards and other collectibles, up for raffle. You can get one ticket for each $1 you donate or 8 tickets for $5.
All teams that pre-register their lanes will not only secure their chance to participate, but also get sixteen free raffle tickets to increase their chances of winning these great prizes!
Bowling shoes are included in the price. Wearing costumes is encouraged but not required. (If you do, they don’t have to be Star Trek or Star Wars OR even sci-fi or fantasy related).
But we need your help once again to make the Costume Bowl a success! Because we believe that making a positive difference in people’s lives can be a lot of fun! Check out the Costume Bowl main page and Facebook page for more information.
