In a manner of speaking, of course.
We’re about a week-and-a-half away for the Continuum’s Anniversary Dinner, and I can still remember the time we were the Shuttlecraft Continuum under the command David Brumbelow and Keith Boleen. On December 4, 1993, we received our commission, and now seventeen years to the day, we’re celebrating our anniversary. I was the Assistant Chief Engineer back in those days, and we’ve had our highs and lows ever since. In fact, we’ve had our highs and lows this year. But I am very excited about what the future holds for our group.
The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan’s Family Steakhouse (9006 Pensacola Blvd) with all the usual celebration features — dinner, the ship’s annual awards, and the “sneaky Santa” gift exchange. Please bring one gift, $15 or less, wrapped with no to/from identification for the game. Dress is Star Trek costume or semi-formal attire.
Come support the Continuum as we have our yard sale starting at 7 a.m. this coming Saturday, November 13 at 6468 Walnut St in Milton. (Sorry, no “early birds” please). We’ll have a lot of inexpensive items — clothing, books, electronics, household items, furniture and more.
Check out our table at anime/sci-fi convention FAN:dom on October 23 & 24 at the University of West Florida. We’ll have flyers and displays (including our Captain’s Chair). See Continuum members in costume and learn more information about the group while enjoying a FREE convention.
Next April will mark the 50th anniversary of the historic flight that made Russian Cosmonaut Yuri’s Gurgain the first person to enter space. So to celebrate, the U.S.S. Continuum is looking forward to doing some BIG things at next year’s Yuri’s Night Pensacola. So big, we’re taking a six-month head-start to work out all the planning.
Our first YNP 2011 planning meeting will be at 8:30 p.m., Friday, October 1, in the back room of Village Inn, Cordova Mall. (Continuum members, this will be after our regular scheduled CS meeting at Books-a-Million).
Yuri’s Night Pensacola is already featured on the 2011 YN “Party List,” which can be found here.
You are invited to attend this meeting to offer your suggestions for Yuri’s Night. However, please RSVP to Jay Gallops so Village Inn can know how many to expect.
We’re really looking forward to making this a great event for the Northwest Florida area in 2011 and hope that you’ll join us!
Chris, Jordan and I went bowling Friday night at the Avalon Bowling Center as you can see by the pictures. Only I’m not in them. That’s because…well…I was taking the pics. It’s not easy taking pictures of people bowling…sometimes you tend to get their backsides…which doesn’t always look the best in photos. We had a good time bowling, good conversation, good music (depends on who you are). There was a mixture of country and pop and something else – I don’t know what it’s called. I couldn’t even begin to describe it to you. Ha! Anyways, I believe we played 4 or 5 games and Chris beat us each time. I think his highest score was around 178, Jordan’s 118 and mine was – Tah Dah – 100. I’m not very good at this game, however, despite my lack of skill, I enjoy playing and getting exercise. After all, bowling is about having a good time with friends. Isn’t it?
